Target calculation

In a standard limited-overs chase (no DLS revision):

Target = First innings total + 1

Example: first innings 165 → target 166.

Required run rate formulas

Runs needed = Target − Current score
RRR per over = Runs needed ÷ Overs remaining
Runs per ball = Runs needed ÷ Balls remaining

Overs remaining use cricket fractions (e.g. 7.2 overs left = 44 balls). Always convert to balls when the chase is tight.

Live chase tracking on STUMPED

During the second innings, STUMPED shows the batting side’s score, overs, and target line so captains know exactly what is needed without mental math between balls. Score offline at the ground and share the result when you reconnect.

Frequently asked questions

Does this include DLS revised targets?

Enter the revised target as if it were the first-innings-based target, or see our DLS guide for resource concepts. Official DLS numbers must come from your competition tables.

Can STUMPED show “need X off Y balls”?

Yes. Live scoring surfaces target and chase context so the scorer and captains stay aligned during the innings.
